Additional Information for Applicants

Must have a valid Texas driver's license and be a driver in good standing with less than ten (10) points deducted for driving infractions as determined by the Texas State University driving standards system. A driving record check will be performed on the selected applicant.

Must be able to work flexible hours, rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Employment with Texas State University-San Marcos is contingent upon the outcome of a criminal history background check and completion of a Personal History Statement. The selected individual shall not have any disciplinary sanctions within the past year.

Required Qualifications

-Ability to interpret and apply complex and technical documents, such as laws, court cases, legislation, policy and procedures, etc.

-Ability to prepare reports, proposals, and/or letters and develop policy and procedures

-Ability to recommend and construct budgets for the department

-Ability to explain violations and/or policy to all levels of society

-Ability to evaluate the performance of employees

-Ability to discipline employees

-Knowledge of criminal investigations

-Prior police experience

-Supervisory experience at the rank of Sergeant or higher in law enforcement environment

-Texas Peace officer TCLEOSE (Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education) certification and Intermediate Peace Officer Proficiency Certificate

-Minimum of 60 hrs or associates degree at an accredited college or university

 
 
Preferred Qualifications

-Have police experience working at a university

-Advanced Peace Officer Proficiency Certificate

-Knowledge of University Policy and Procedures

-Knowledge of Board of Regents Rules and Regulations

-Minimum of 10 years of prior police experience

-Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience at the rank of Sergeant or higher in law enforcement environment
