Disseminating Information on Campus Crime

We want to keep you informed about campus crime. Here are some of the ways we do it:

Media Relations & Publications
The Office of Media Relations and Publications prepares news releases on crime for distribution to campus and San Marcos news media.

University Newspaper
The Daily University Star carries stories on serious criminal offenses.

Crime Stoppers
San Marcos police, working with the UPD, develop crime-stopper information for local news media.

Internet
We also publish safety and security information on-line through the UPD Home Page on the Texas State University Website: http://www.txstate.edu/police

E-mail
The UPD submits a daily activity log on weekdays via the university e-mail system and periodically e-mails important information to all subscribers on an as-needed basis.

Registered Sex Offender Information
The Texas Department of Public Safety maintians a statewide sex offender database that may be accessed via the internet at : http://records.txdps.state.tx.us

When a Serious Crime Happens
When a serious crime occurs or a series of thefts showing a pattern develops, UPD will alert the university community via The Daily University Star and the campus e-mail system.
