Operation ID Program
To participate in Operation Identification call the University Police to borrow an electric engraving tool. The University Police have these engravers available, free of charge, for all of the University community.
A few simple steps:
Your Driver’s License Number should be used as your identifying mark on the valuables which you engrave. A typical mark should look like this:
TX01234567DL
After marking your property, make a list of your valuables and keep a copy of the list in a safe place. If you should subsequently become a victim of theft or burglary you will be able to quickly describe the stolen property from the list. This will be of great help to police in their attempts to recover stolen possessions. DO NOT USE YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER WHEN MARKING PROPERTY.
