Found property is managed by the University Police Departments Crime Prevention unit. Property can be dropped off at the Police Department 24/7, inquiries about property must be taken care of during normal business hours 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday. Property turned into the Police Department is only held 120 days and then disposed of as outlined in University Policies and Procedures 05.01.20 (http://www.txstate.edu/effective/upps/upps-05-01-20.html ).
The Crime Prevention unit makes every effort to determine ownership and to notify the owner. It is the owner's responsibility to contact the Police Department if they have lost property. It is also the owner's responsibility to pick up property that has been located at the Police Department. The University Police Department is located at 615 N. LBJ San Marcos, Tx. and can be contacted by phone at 512 245 2805.
