Spring Break Parking Advisory and Travel Abroad Tips

Texas State University-San Marcos and the Police Department want to wish you and your friends and family a safe Spring Break. Below are just a couple of things to think about while on Spring Break.

DWI: IS IT WORTH THE PRICE?

Being arrested for drunk driving is very expensive. A DWI varies by County but costs approximately $3,000 (includes attorney fees, fines and court costs, bond, DWI course fees, alcohol and drug programs fees, and probation fees) or more.

HERE IS A LIST OF WHAT YOU CAN BUY WITH $3,000

* 2 years tuition and fees (12 hours per semester)

* 428 CD's or tapes

* 2,608 gallons of gas

* 5,000 candy bars

* 3,000 fast food hamburgers

* 1,003 movies to rent

* 600 movies at a theatre

* 200 concerts

* 6,000 donuts

* 500 pizzas

* 200 haircuts

* 5,000 sodas

* 1 really nice vacation

* 40 pairs of jogging shoes

STOP ALCOHOL POISONING

Symptoms of alcohol

poisoning

Person is unconscious or semi-conscious and cannot be awakened. Cold, clammy, pale or bluish skin.

Check to see if breathing is slow, less than eight times per minute, or irregular, with ten seconds or more between breaths.

Vomiting while, “sleeping” or passed out, and not waking after vomiting.

If a person has any of these symptoms, he or she is suffering from acute alcohol intoxication.

Get Help Immediately and Don’t leave the person alone!
